In Icelandic

When I first started Hestakaup.com, I limited the Resources and Weblinks to sites that were in English because I felt that it would be rude to give links that most of my guests would not be able to understand. Well, it turned out that most of the guests on Hestakaup are not from the States at all and, in fact, it has grown quite an international following. I'm grateful for that and I want everyone to feel welcome here.  No matter what language.

I've started a special category for links that are in Icelandic although some might have parts of the site translated. Rather than duplicate a laundry-list of sites about Icelandic horses -- and that can be found elsewhere -- I am only linking to organizations that have linked to Hestakaup.com.

You'll see that this list is smaller than I had hoped, but it's growing.  Hestakaup.com does not get much recognition from the Icelandic horse organizations or institutions. More from horse farms.  This lack of reciprocity and reluctance to collaborate with "outsiders" has been particularly frustrating for me and it does not help market Icelandic horses or Iceland abroad.

But here are the good sites:

  Web Link
  Link   Hrossasótt
Forgive me! Totally in Icelandic, but a charming and sometimes funky site by Icelanders who clearly enjoy horses, kids, four-horned goats, all kinds of animals, and the Internet. Dig in!
  Link   Hugi - Hestar
A gateway of links. It's all in Icelandic, but they do link to Hestakaup.com in Tenglar (link) Erlendar hestasíður (foreign horse websites) and call crazy, or wild (ædisleg) which I hope is just slang for fun!
Link   History Center of the Icelandic Horse
Housed at Hólar College, it is a resource for materials about the Icelandic horse and has links to activities in Skagafjörður. it is only Icelandic only.
  Link   Dalvik Horseman\'s Association
Dalvik is one of my favorite places in Iceland! Walk along the harbor, ride in its scenic valleys, stay overnight at Skeið guesthouse... Hringur is where I filmed much of 3 Guys and a Horse from Dalvik. The website has links about the area.
