Born May 9, 1999 in Clintwood, Virginia, Rock came from an ancestry of fast single footing and speed racking horses. His grandfather was the famous EZD's Falcon Rowdy, twice speed racking world champion, owned by John Demetris. Rock's father was the well known Rowdy Rawhide owned by Steve Wright.
Rock is a dark bay, 15.2 hands, calm, well mannered, smooth riding stallion with a thick black mane and tail. His most awsome quality is his 28 to 32 mph single-footing speed. This speed was not achieved overnight. Rock had only been ridden 4 times, when the Riley's bought him in Nov. of 2002. He didn't know how to rein and only hit his gait once in a while. It took over a year to get him up to 16 mph. Rock improved gradually. The more Pete ask for, the more Rock gave. Pete never expected him to have such speed. It was a dream come true.
Rock's outstanding disposition, and desire to achieve has made him one of the fastest speed racking horses in the South. Competitors far and wide have tried to match his speed in gait. Some pacing horses may match his speed; however, Rock does not pace. In a four beat gait, Rock has always left competitors in the dust.
