In 2000, the Vermont Icelandic Horse Club held a show that turned out to be as much regional as local. It was a beautiful, warm, sunny day in August, just the kind of day when a cold one is really appreciated.
A bunch of riders of all different levels and degrees of experience getting together to have a good time. For some, this was their first ride on an Icelandic horse. They may not have gotten it perfect or just right, but it was a start. And they were not holding themselves out as examples for others to critique down the road. Enjoy it -- if you can -- or leave it!
I shot some video as a souvenir and I share it here in just that spirit.

Marine had only recently come from Belgium to live in the States. So much was new to her! The country, the language, and the Icelandic horses.
She had rdden Breki for lessons a few times at the same stable where I had been taking lessons for a few months.
She got up to Vermont with her mother and some cousins visiting from Belgium and entered this show.
Yes, she had ridden horses, but she had never tolted!
